About me

Hello, my name is Genesis Morales (she, her, ella), and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern California and completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

I consider it a profound privilege to witness clients in their journey to healing and building radical self-love in my practice. I believe self-compassion is necessary to live vulnerably and wholeheartedly, and make the most of our complex human experience. As Pema Chödrön expresses, “Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”

I believe that through human connection and relationships, we find healing. This is why I honor the therapeutic relationship and collaboratively work with clients on their healing journey. I support clients not as someone with all the answers but as someone who values authentic human connection built on trust and respect to help clients find the answers and wisdom they have within themselves.

My goal, as Susan McConnell states, is for you to “Honor the body as a source of guidance and vessel for spirit or life force.”

  • "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."

    Carl R. Rogers

  • “Awareness brings the possibility of choice”

    Susan McConnell

  • “Suffering is the refusal to accept what is”

    Brianna Weist

What therapy with me looks like:

During our time together, you will experience warmth, empathy, trust, and compassion. I draw from different schools of practice, however, the focal point of these practices is on the therapeutic relationship and collaboratively working with my clients to guide the healing process. I utilize storytelling, curiosity, intuition, and a holistic lens to develop tools to help guide clients to the answers and support they seek. I focus on empowering the individual by increasing self-compassion and radical self-love. Whether you are grieving, lonely, feeling sad, having an existential crisis, feeling joyful, hopeful, or anxious, I want to honor that and work together through your healing journey.
